Save Our Water Launches "Water Conservation: It's For Life" Public Education Campaign

Save Our Water - California's official statewide conservation education program - today launched its summer public education campaign "Water Conservation: It's For Life." The campaign focuses on making permanent changes to save water as part of the "California Lifestyle" called out in Governor Brown's May Executive Order. The campaign takes a positive approach thanking Californians for their conservation efforts to date and asking for their ongoing commitment to saving water.

"While we had some relief this past winter, the fact is California remains in drought," said Mark Cowin, Director of the California Department of Water Resources. "The need for conservation remains and Save Our Water will help Californians make permanent changes to save water."

Coinciding with the launch of the campaign, Save Our Water unveiled an all new website at www.saveourwater.com which has an improved user experience and navigation. A primary goal for the new site is to make it easier for Californians to find ideas, tips and other key information. Available in English with a Spanish site launching later this month, the Save Our Water site is filled with tips, tools, and inspiration to help every Californian find new and creative ways to conserve.

"Californians get it and have responded to the call to save water throughout the drought," said Jennifer Persike, Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs and Operations of the Association of California Water Agencies. "Save Our Water is building on that water conservation momentum by giving Californians the specific ideas and tools they need to make saving water part of the California lifestyle."

The program has also enhanced its conservation toolkit for water agencies and businesses, a great resource of collateral and tools available for free at www.saveourwater.com/toolkit. Partners now have the option of downloading materials in their preferred size and format and it is easier to customize graphics with logos and local information. Materials such as new infographics, tip sheets, web and social media graphics, and posters have been uploaded to the site and are available for use to conservation programs throughout the state.

Throughout the drought, Save Our Water has aimed to give Californians tools and tips to help everyone easily conserve at home and at work, every day. Save Our Water connects with Californians on its Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Save Our Water is a statewide program aimed at helping Californians make permanent changes to reduce their everyday water use. Save Our Water is a partnership between the Association of California Water Agencies and the California Department of Water Resources.
