Emotional Health and Meditation Tools from Happify Health Now Available in 7 Major Languages

Regardless of location or language, people need emotional health tools available on their devices, anytime, anywhere. According to the World Health Organization, more than 300 million people around the world suffer from depression, and more than 260 million people are living with anxiety disorders globally. 1

As the leader in mental health and wellness technology, Happify Health has designed digital tools to improve emotional health. Happify delivers fun, science-based activities, games, and meditations that appeal to everyone and fit easily into busy lives. Happify can be especially beneficial for individuals experiencing emotional health challenges like stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms.

More than 3 million individuals use the English-language version of Happify, which launched to the public in 2013. Now, the company has rolled out the platform in six additional languages: Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Chinese and Japanese. A French-Canadian version will be available in summer 2018. All languages can be accessed via the Happify website, iOS and Android (News - Alert) apps.

"Stress is a global issue, and language shouldn't be a barrier to getting access to tools that can help improve mental health and wellness," said Tomer Ben-Kiki, co-founder and CEO of Happify Health. "This is the first, comprehensive mental health and wellness solution that's been linguistically and culturally adapted, while also staying true to the science, for a diverse population."

The multi-language resources span a selection of Happify's core tracks, assessments, articles, infographics, videos and all available games; new content and activities are added on a regular basis as well. In addition, over 300 guided meditations are offered in English and nearly 300 are offered in a variety of other languages. Exclusive online member communities, where users can support and encourage each other in their native languages, also are available.

Multi-lingual meditation at your fingertips
A new mindfulness and compassion meditation track has been launched in parallel with the added languages. Spanish, French, German and Portuguese options are available now, with Chinese and Japanese to come.

Happify Health worked with world-renowned meditation teacher and best-selling author Sharon Salzberg to create the exclusive 28-day guided meditation track, "Real Happiness: The Meditation Transformation," based on Salzberg's bestselling book, Real Happiness. It can be accessed via the Happify website, iOS and Android apps.

"I'm thrilled to be collaborating with Happify Health to share my mindfulness and compassion meditations with people all over the world in an easily accessible format," said Salzberg.

Happify Health collaborated with experienced mindfulness meditation teachers across the globe to translate Salzberg's track and evaluate its cultural relevance across languages, creating the first digital tool to provide guided meditations in a variety of languages.

A global issue, at home and at work
Mental health and wellness resources are gaining in importance as the pressures of an increasingly global society expand. But, resources must be localized and align with cultural differences to make the greatest impact.

"As a global company ourselves, we understand how local language and cultural alignment can impact how we use and engage with mental health and wellness resources. So, we collaborated with translators, editors, meditation teachers and scientific advisors from around the world to adapt our content to account for cultural differences, while providing the same high-quality user experience and support that the original platform delivers," said Tiffany Sun, head of Content Strategy at Happify Health.

According to the International Labor Organization 2016 report on Workplace Stress, 13-19 percent of people reported losing sleep due to work concerns in Central America, and 32 percent of Japanese workers report suffering from strong anxiety, worry and stress. In Europe, 25 percent of workers report experiencing work-related stress for all or most of their working time. 2 By providing access to resources in additional languages, Happify expects to improve emotional health for millions across the world.
