Kindful Announces Series A Funding with Cultivation Capital

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Kindful, a Nashville-based software company that integrates fundraising and donor management for nonprofits, has raised $3.5 million Series A, led by Cultivation Capital, to grow its innovative software platform.

Jeremy Bolls, CEO and founder of Kindful, announced his firm secured $3.5 million of Series A funding.

Kindful Founder and CEO Jeremy L. Bolls says the three-year-old tech start-up, which is approaching a 500 percent growth in revenue and customers year over year, will invest in its sales and product development teams to increase already rapid growth.

Nonprofits have historically struggled to leverage new technology and are often overwhelmed with the task of keeping their data clean, organized and accessible. Kindful unifies fundraising, transaction and donor management tools under one roof, then seamlessly integrates those tools with other data sources - like events, accounting or email marketing systems.

"Our mission is to help nonprofits grow. Having integrated fundraising, transactional and donor data all in one platform challenges the historical standard in the nonprofit sctor that donor software is hard to use and expensive," Bolls said. "Nonprofit leaders of today deserve world-class fundraising software. And we believe it should be easy for anyone to run meaningful reports, see activity as it happens, or engage donors with smart, personalized messaging."

Cultivation Capital, a St. Louis-headquartered venture firm focused on investing in technology and life sciences companies, sees Kindful filling a major void in nonprofit fundraising, according to Joe Maxwell, a Cultivation managing partner based in Nashville.

"This significant round of funding shows that major innovation in Nashville is alive and well in the FinTech sector," Maxwell said. "With its potential for donor acquisition and smarter, targeted campaigns, Kindful will be a disruptive force in the nonprofit sector, and it's a perfect fit for Cultivation's mission to invest in companies with potential to transform industries."

Kindful's intuitive fundraising automation platform is designed to help nonprofit managers and fundraisers operate more efficiently by providing a single cloud-based resource for donor acquisition, donor-relationship management and real-time analytics, including insights from popular third-party software partners.

"Kindful's integrations and automated actions have been a game-changer for us," said Allison Hunter of Habitat For Humanity of the San Juans. "We've connected payments, events, acknowledgements, email marketing and our own custom data points, so now everything is automatically synced the moment it happens. It saves us countless manual hours each month."

Kindful says the company will also invest in its integrated partner ecosystem and open API, a key differentiator in the nonprofit industry and a major value for customers.
